Ski or spa? Both, of course

Presentation

A ski holiday can be as active or relaxing as you like!

We know plenty of first-to-last-lift skiers and snowboarders, but we also know those who love a lie-in and just want to cruise the blues from one coffee stop to the next sunshine terrace (I definitely belong to this group). We also know there are plenty of groups of ski holiday friends who have both these types of people. Sometimes, discussions can get heated due to not fully understanding the other person. However, you don’t need to worry anymore! There are many ski holiday options that can bring together everyone.

So, what ski resorts and where is best to stay if you want to please everyone? Read on for more information and then it's your choice…

Serre Chevalier

Did you know Serre Chevalier Briançon has a magic power? It is home to a natural resource of hot water thermals, which have been used for healing purposes since Roman times. Nowadays they converted this area into a wellness centre, Les Grand Bains du Monêtier. You’ll find various heated indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, hammams and treatment options, all perfect for those moments of relaxation and well-being.

To give a breakdown of Serre Chevalier, you have some of the best skiing to do in the Southern Alps, and in total there are 410 hectares of the ski resort. All the villages have direct access to the slopes too, meaning no wasting time having to drive or catch busses in the morning.

We have some fantastic accommodation here too, which is only a 13 minute walk away from these famous Grand Bains, Chalet Le Mélézin, Chalet Le Flocon and Chalet l’Etoile.

Courchevel

Another super resort for those wanting plenty of spa and skiing time is Courchevel. Courchevel is part of the largest ski area in the world, the Three Valleys. It is known for its top-notch skiing and high-end accommodation. Many of our accommodation options here are ski-in / ski-out, but one particular hotel favourite of ours for its 1100 m2 spa is the Chabichou!

This 5* hotel is located on the snow front of Courchevel 1850. It is the largest spa in Courchevel and has plenty of relaxation facilities and treatment options to choose from, including hydrodynamic and sensory pools, ice fountains and salt grottos. You can definitely ski and spa here until your heart is content!

La Plagne

La Plagne is a cheaper option, however, being less expensive does not mean it is less good! To fill you in, La Plagne is part of the Paradiski area, which entails over 400 kilometres of skiing heaven! Known for being ski-in and ski-out due to its purpose-built design, any first-lift go-getters can be at the front of the queue in no time!

La Plagne is also home to the Deep Nature Spa in Belle Plagne, a 1500 metre square wellness centre. As La Plagne is also known for being family-friendly, you can book massages and treatments for children here too. We have plenty of self-catered accommodation to choose from in Belle Plagne, or if you are after a 4* hotel vibe, then splash out at the Hotel Carlina or Araucaria, both are located on the slope font and both have the own dedicated spa, wellbeing area and treatment rooms.

Val d'Isère

This resort is another world-renowned skiing area. It is one-half of the famous Tignes-Val d'Isère ski domain with over 300 kilometres of runs to explore. Here in Val d’Isère, you can be sure to find beautiful accommodation less than 200 metres away from the slopes, all with their own private spa, swimming pool and wellness areas. In fact, we have a selection of 3 hotels superb that are hard to choose between here…

The 4* Hotel Avenue Lodge is less than 3 minutes to the slopes and has an excellent spa with saunas, a hammam, an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzis and treatments by Esthederm.

The hotel Le Val d’Isère is another central hotel very close to the slopes. This 3* hotel has recently been renovated to a beautiful standard. Their wellness area Les Cabanes d’Elsa allows you to, as they say, ‘take care of yourself’ during your ski holiday!

Last but not least is the 5* The Refuge de Solaise. This hotel goes one step further for all skiers and all spa lovers. This is the overall dream mountain escape and is by no means, a traditional refuge. Think luxury from beginning to end! You are not only on the mountain but at one with it! And get ready to see their spa area at 2551 metres, there’s a 25-metre pool, sauna, jacuzzis, hammams and treatments by Holidaymie, plus yoga classes are also available.
