Le Grand Bornand is a wonderful resort close to Annecy. It combines perfectly a traditional mountain village and a modern infrastructure, in a fun and dynamic, all-year-round resort. You will find plenty of activities for everyone both in the winter and in the summer.

The villages

2 villages make up Le Grand Bornand. The main Grand Bornand village is located 1000 metres above sea level. The top end of the village is connected to the ski area via two ski lifts (Le Rosay and La Joyère).
Chinaillon is the other Grand Bornand village located at 1300 metres. When staying here you will be in awe of the views of the surrounding mountains, and you can not miss the beauty of the historic 200-year-old chalets while exploring the area.
For food lovers, Le Grand Bornand is the first production site of the famous Reblochon cheese. There is also the bicentenary (a 200-year-old) market where you can find plenty of local delights. 
Both villages of Le Grand Bornand will dazzle you with their unique charm and breathtaking views of the Aravis mountain range. So what are you waiting for?

The ski area

Discover 84km of slopes, including 15 greens, 13 blues, 15 reds and 5 backs this winter in the Grand Bornand. 
The two villages of Le Grand Bornand are ideally connected within the ski area and it is very easy to move from one village to another on skis or a snowboard.
You’ll also find 2 large cross-country ski areas accessible for all levels, starting from the Grand Bornand village and heading towards the Bouchet valley, or between Le Grand Bornand village and Chinaillon.
For the freestyle fans, there are over 5 hectares (12 and a half football pitches) of snowpark to enjoy. It has been said this freestyle area is one of the best in France in offering an alternative way to sliding on the snow. 
And you may have already heard of the Denivel’Maxx ski slope, it is probably the most famous piste in Le Grand Bornand, it drops 1100 metres in altitude, over 3km.

Local life and activities

There are plenty of activities to do during the winter and summer months. Le Grand Bornand is well known for its winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding, however there is also a fantastic summer season with plenty of excellent walking routes and an even better mountain bike scene!
In total, there are around 160km of marked hiking trails to explore, beautiful lakes, and a great festival called 'Au bonheur des mômes', a festival designed especially for children! You will see when you visit, many adventures await, and no matter what time of year you visit, you are in for an extraordinary holiday in the mountains.
