Presentation

You’ll find the ski area of Tignes - Val d’Isère in Savoie, the French Alps. This region is well known for its winter sports and its cheese. Previously known as the Espace Killy, it was originally named after an old French Ski Champion who lived locally. The newer name makes sense though and gives the game away… yes, this ski area is the combined resorts of Tignes and Val d’Isère! 

Already well known in the world of skiing, you will not be let down when you choose a holiday here. There is around 300 km of excellent pisted slopes to explore, not to mention the off-piste (always go with an off-piste professional guide!). The ski area itself extends from the lower altitude village of Tignes Les Brévières at 1550 metres to the arrival of the Grande Motte cable car at 3450 metres.  

 

There is no problem with snow during a holiday in Tignes-Val d’Isère too. If in doubt, the 900 odd snow cannons that cover the domain are here to help complement any natural snowfall, ensuring maximum snow coverage at all times during the winter. 

 

The Grand Motte glacier in Tignes is in fact open for skiers from autumn onwards this year, and sometimes during the summer months too. Please note, there is no connection between Tignes and Val d’Isère during the summer, only during the winter months.

This is a great ski area and is accessible for all levels of skiers or snowboarders! With 163 slopes and 76 ski lifts connecting everything together, you can slide around the slopes at your own pace. You’ll find: 

 

- 21 green 

- 67 blue 

- 41 red 

- 29 black 

 

There are also 2 snowparks and 5 dedicated ski touring slopes. 

 

In both Tignes and Val d’Isère we can help you with ski or snowboard lessons too. Our partner ski school Oxygène is based centrally in both these resorts.
